"Non stiamo prendendo in minima considerazione la chiusura di scuole, fabbriche, ospedali, né razionamenti e lockdown. Quello che è urgente è che a Bruxelles qualcuno si svegli, sospenda le regole ferree dei bilanci europei e il Green Deal e ci permetta di usare tutti i soldi che abbiamo per aiutare gli italiani in difficoltà. Il mio problema non è la mancanza di carburante, il mio problema sono i costi del diesel, della luce, del gas, della spesa del carrello". Così il vicepremier e ministro delle Infrastrutture Matteo Salvini a margine della visita a Tavarnuzze, al Florence American Cemetery in occasione della Festa della Liberazione, rispondendo a una domanda sulle scorte di carburante alla luce della guerra in Iran. "Noi possiamo mettere miliardi nelle tasche dei lavoratori e degli imprenditori italiani ma le regole europee oggi ce lo impediscono - ha proseguito Salvini - Quindi, per assurdo, oltre a questa stramaledetta guerra che conto finisca il prima possibile, il primo problema per le tasche degli italiani è a Bruxelles. Anche la riunione di ieri non mi sembra che abbia portato risultati".

My problem isn’t a lack of fuel; my problem is the cost of diesel, electricity, gas, and the cost of groceries. That’s what Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini said on the sidelines of a visit to Tavarnuzze, at the Florence American Cemetery on Liberation Day, responding to a question about fuel supplies in light of the war in Iran. “We can put billions into the pockets of Italian workers and entrepreneurs, but European rules today prevent us from doing so - Salvini continued - So, bizarrely, in addition to this damned war that I hope will end as soon as possible, the first problem for Italians’ pockets is in Brussels. Yesterday’s meeting doesn’t seem to have yielded any results either.”
