"When I first came up with the term [Software Engineering], no one had heard of it before, at least in our world. It was an ongoing joke for a long time. They liked to kid me about my radical ideas. It was a memorable day when one of the most respected hardware gurus explained to everyone in a meeting that he agreed with me that the process of building software should also be considered an engineering discipline, just like with hardware."

hey gorgeous people, i am hosting what may be the last Resurrection Workshop(for the time being) at Varia on the 4th of October. The procedure is as is; we talk about death and life in technologies, networks, devices. What dies, how can it die, what do we miss about them? Through a short archeological research, we write eulogies dedicated to our technokin… It is nice and fun and sad and sincere. We perform for ourselves and each other. I think I will be commemorating satellite dishes on this one. Hope you can also join.

The workshop will be at @varia Rotterdam 😛

One of my favorite stories: Elvis asked to cover I Will Always Love You and get half of the royalties, as opposed to the usual 0. He could only extract that much money because having Elvis cover your song was such a huge deal.
“I wanted to hear Elvis sing it, and it broke my heart—I cried all night. But I had to keep that copyright in my pocket. You have to take care of your [business]. Everybody’s going to use you if they can.”
She politely told him to get bent, and then made $10 million in the 90s alone off the diamond-certified Whitney Houston cover, which she invested in a Black neighborhood in Nashville. What a badass. forbes.com/sites/matthewleimku

Dolly Parton Turned Tears Into A Fortune With ‘I Will Always Love You’

Dolly Parton once told Elvis Presley "no," and it was one of the best decisions of her career, which later turned into a diamond-certified cover from Whitney Houston.

I bought this many years ago. Today we lost an angel. She positively affected so many lives.
You will be missed.

My dad passed away in early February.

Due to the pandemic, I wound up spending more time with my dad than in quite some time as he declined in health. That resulted in me uncovering a number of stories of his pre-fatherhood days I was surprised to learn. Perhaps some of you will enjoy them as well in this tribute I’ve written. 😀

Kevin Conroy tribute.

I got the idea and then rushed to get it finished.

He will always be THE for me. The BEST Batman.

Very pleased with how this turned out. Always tricky to emulate a specific style.
